Digital Recording Booth

How do I book the Digital Recording Booth?

Include:

  • Subject line: Book Booth
  • Name - first and last names
  • Student/Banner ID number
  • Number of people (3 person maximum)
  • Requested date and time (2 hour max. per day)

You will receive a response within one business day. Your booking is not confirmed until you get a confirmation from Reference staff via email.

This is not a soundproof space nor a live music recording studio and, therefore, musical instrument and singing recording are prohibited.

General Guidelines for the Digital Recording Booth

Thank you for adhering to these guidelines and for helping to make your library a tidy and respectable place to hang out and study!

  • The booth must be booked prior to use.
  • You will receive a confirmation email once the booking has been processed. 
  • Your booking is not confirmed until you get a confirmation from Reference staff via email.
  • A valid Durham College ID card must be presented in order to book the booth.
  • Reference staff can offer limited assistance.
  • You should have a basic knowledge of AV equipment and software and be prepared to produce your own project. 
  • You are expected to bring your own external USB to save your files.
  • The booth is only to be used for recording.  Pre and post production work should be done outside of the booth.
  • Report any issues with the equipment immediately to the Reference staff.
  • You are responsible for all of the equipment in the booth during your booking.
  • You will NOT eat and/or drink in the booth.
  • You will vacate the booth promptly at the end of your booking.
  • You will make sure to turn the lights/camera OFF when exiting the booth.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that any borrowed equipment is returned to the Circulation Desk.
  • This is not a soundproof space nor a live music recording studio and, therefore, musical instrument and singing recording are prohibited.

 

Digital Recording Booth Hours

Monday to Thursday,  8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday to Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hours are for the academic year (September to April) and are subject to change depending on equipment maintenance, the library’s hours and staff availability.  The booth is closed Saturday and Sunday during the summer (May – August).
