Public Company Information

It is easier to find information on companies trading on the stock market - SEC filings, annual reports, analysts' reports, news stories, books and case studies.

Canadian and American public companies disclose information about their operations in their regulatory filings. Search the public documents using root terms like supply or distribution.

Canadian companies file documents with SEDAR.These documents can be found by selecting "Search Database" and then "Search for Public Company Documents". You can use the search form to search by Company and/or Document Type.

American companies have to submit an annual report document called a 10-K to the SEC. This document contains a section on Risk Factors. This is not the same as an annual report to shareholders. 10-K reports can be found online:

Company Websites

Find information on the company website.

Try the "About Us" or "About the Company" tab. There may be useful details about their financials or operations.

Check for press releases with information about company financials and activities.

Companies may publish annual reports for internal or promotional use.  Look for these reports on the company website or contact the company to see if one is available.
