Podcast Software

To record and/or edit your podcast, you will need to download audio recording software to your computer. The editing software links listed below are free and easy-to-use:

NOTE:  You may also need to download Behringer software if using one of their Podcastudio kits.

 

Preparing to Record

Steps to take in recording your podcast:

1. Brainstorm

  • Who is your audience?
  • What is the theme of your podcast?
  • What is the specific theme of an episode?
  • Where will you get your content?

2. Create your script

  • How will you open the podcast/episode?
  • What points do you want to make?
  • Are you interviewing someone?  What questions do you want to ask?
  • How will you end the episode?

3. Get your equipment

  • Decide what equipment you want to use to record your podcast (phone, tablet, digital recorder, podcast kit).

4. Record

  • Practice your script out loud before recording.
  • If you make a mistake , pause and say the sentence again. Mistakes can be corrected in the editing phase.

5. Chose music 

  • Only use music you have obtained legally permitted by copyright and copyright exceptions, i.e. Creative Commons, Royalty-Free or Public Domain.
  • Properly credit the creators of the music in the podcast or in it's description.

6. Post-production

  • Edit in programs like Audacity.
  • Remove background noise.
  • Adjust vocal levels.
  • Remove unwanted segments.
  • Add music and sound effects.

7. Export and publish

  • Export as an MP3 file.
  • Upload to a platform of your choice.
